Who Are We?

We are Emma & Rosie, the co-founders of The Gathering Table. Both of us are practitioners who use natural dye in our own work. We both also have a background in and a passion for education. We are artists, designers, tutors, lecturers and researchers who constantly grow our knowledge of what we teach. We are the primary teachers of our company but as we grow we hope to connect with other professionals sharing the same, and other, passions spanning the worlds of chemistry, horticulture, textiles, design and beyond.

Emma Gluziki is a further and higher education lecturer, passionate about supporting students in developing their interests and exploring modern themes and personal beliefs. She specialises in portfolio development, creative 3D construction and sustainability through traditional printing techniques such as natural dye, pigment extraction and wax printing. Emma enhances her students’ learning process by utilising her teaching experience and extended cultural knowledge to support creative development. She graduated in 2019 from Central Saint Martins and since then has been doing artist residencies, working as a freelancer pattern cutter, business advisor and art, textile and fashion lecturer. She is currently the program manager for an educational charity alongside which she continues to develops her own fashion and textile practice. When out of the studio, Emma is either to be found in her garden or in the boxing ring.

Rosie Harris is a tutor, artist and designer teaching and working in sustainable methods of fashion design, natural dye and painting techniques. Since graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2019 she has taught portfolio development and drawing skills whilst continuing her work as a language teacher. She is also the founder and creative director of Three Tables, a sustainable backdrop brand that creates hand-painted backgrounds using natural dyes and inks. These backdrops, after having had a life on the stage or in front of the lens, are made into limited run garment collections. When not in the studio, Rosie spends her time horse riding, baking and collecting ceramics.

Our Mission?

Our studio-school in Hampstead is a space for learning, researching and the gathering together of a community of students and creatives.

We teach the art of natural dyeing, life drawing, fashion illustration, pattern making and garment construction. The mission of our studio-school is to educate adults, children and fashion students of the origins of the organic fibres and natural dyes used in fashion before the invention of their synthetic counterparts. The Gathering Table is a circular and transparent organisation, that has a desire to connect the contemporary fashion industry back to its organic, handmade and artisanal beginnings.

Beyond the classes, we are a research facility with sustainability at its core, seeking to further the development of natural pigment extraction and non-toxic mordants. We seek to promote the use of natural dyes and printing inks, in a forward-thinking approach, within the fashion industry.

In September 2023 we will launch a bespoke natural dye & print consultancy and service to work in close collaboration with designers and artists. As a consultancy, we will inform and advise clients of their options to achieve the colours they want by natural methods; as a service, we will carry out the desired dyeing and printing in-house and deliver the final product to the client.

Our mission is to breathe new life into the dying artisanal skill of natural dyeing and reinvigorate this heritage UK craft, by replication of the traditional methods used by the natural dyer of old within their dye garden and studio.
